He is a serial social entrepreneur, Ashoka Fellow, Stanford Visiting Scholar (School of Civil & Environmental Engineering) and Stanford CodeX Fellow (Computer Science and Law Schools’ Center for Legal Informatics). Beginning in 1991, Bruce pioneered capital investment strategies for governments that created open geospatial data now used in Google Maps and similar web services. Ruoting was a former trader on Wall Street, arbitraging various derivative instruments in energy, fixed income, and currencies. Drawn to Silicon Valley to focus on collaborative innovation, he spent time as a technology investment banker for middle-market companies. To focus on a more product-oriented experience, Ruoting is currently launching his own startup, a new social discovery engine called Temvi. He brings an extensive understanding of financial markets and ideas for ‘Information Age banking’ to the TEDxNewWallStreet team. Having experienced a series of life-changing events, Ruoting is a strong believer in that ‘where we are’ has no bearing on ‘where we can go’. Elci Ryan – Event Production Assistant
Career in trade show & event services started in 1997. Starting with BAX Global as a Trade Show Executive, then joined GES Expo Services as Trade Show Logistics Manager in Jan 2000. In April 2009. recruited by Champion Expo Services as Trade Show Regional Logistics Manager. Currently owns and operate Exclusive Run, Inc., a company that plans & executes events, trade shows, and conferences for show associations; providing technical, logistical, and creative elements such as budgeting and vendor negotiations in the early stages of event planning including onsite surveying, negotiating with facility managers, trade show general contractors, and productions companies. Also manage logistics & warehousing of show materials & equipment. Some of past and present clients under Exclusive Run, Inc. are the Cisco System Inc.’s Toolapalooza, the American Philosophical Association, Silicon Valley Conference, and Front Range Solutions. At Champion Expo Services, one of the most significant achievement was growing the western region’s logistics department revenue to $2 million with a 51% profit margin by rolling out sales strategies designed to increase brand awareness, and also strengthened vendor partnerships.
